The Brock Historical Society is fairly new to the clubs on campus, but don’t let that discourage you. This small group of individuals are not taking “humble beginnings” very lightly and are doing everything they can to get their voices out there. Obviously because it is the Historical Society’s first time at the rodeo, they may not be doing as much as other groups that Brock is home to; however, Brock Historical Society has done some really cool things on campus this year alone. The Niagara region is a Historical landmine and Brock University is a place that is very proud of Sir Isaac Brock and other historical figures that fought many battles to create the beautiful environment that we have today. So what has The Brock Historical Society done so far?
For Starters, This past November the group hosted a panel discussion where they invited students to learn about all the possibilities that a history degree has in store for students. The Panel discussion included Brock employees and even Walter Sendzik, the mayor of St. Catharines! More recently, the Historical Society put out a call for their very first journal where students can have one of their essays published.
Ultimately, the goal of Brock Historical Society is to connect the existing history of the Niagara region and Brock, finding interesting ways to get students interested in history. If you are interested in learning more about his awesome group, check out their social media below!
Special thanks to Erin Grieve and Mike Angaran for helping make this club spotlight possible!
