It’s that time of year Brock University, the celebration that we’ve all been waiting for. Now that the dust or rather, the paint has settled from an exciting week of Brockchella we don’t want the party to stop. Homecoming is this weekend and you’re not going to want to miss out. Here are just a few highlights of what HoCo 2016 has in store for you:

Fashion

Insider tip, the colour of this season is red and white so look no further than your 2016 Homecoming apparel for the best look. Jokes aside, the shirts for this year’s celebration are super nice and even allow for the customization that you always dreamed of, check it out!

Let’s bring #twinning to a whole new level by having the entire campus sporting the Brock baseball t’s and t-shirts! When you come to campus anytime Friday to Sunday, all we want to see is red and white!

Friendship

Text your friends and make sure that they’re coming out to the festivities. Even better, get a team together for Brock’s messiest tradition, our annual Grape Stomp – one of the top 9 campus traditions in Canada as listed by Universities Canada. You know what they say, friends that stomp together stay together (okay, “they” don’t say that – but I just did).  Submit your teams to Student Life and Community Experience, and prepare yourself to have the time of your life. Keep the fun times going with all of your friends (new and old) by heading out to the rest of the events after you wash of the purple mess.

Reunions

There’s a reason this celebration is called homecoming. Not only are all of the current students finally settling back into the swing of things on campus, alumni will be returning to the den as well. If you’re reading this and missing your friends that have graduated then get them over to campus from September 16-18 to ignite the Brock pride that we all have well beyond convocation day. Once a Badger, always a Badger!

School Pride

The last thing I want to see on social media after this weekend is Brock students dressed in any colours other than red and white. Travelling to other schools to celebrate their school’s Homecoming is not on the schedule. If your hometown bestie wants you to come and visit them for their school’s HoCo, just be sure that it’s on another weekend. This BU celebration is not something you want to miss!

History

First ever Brock tailgate party? Check. Followed up by the biggest sporting event in school history? Check. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of all sports or you’re currently questioning if hockey is the sport that involves touchdowns, you’re guaranteed to have a great time at HoCo. Join us at our downtown campus, the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts Centre at 4pm on Friday to get the celebration started. This will be followed by the Steele Blade Classic at the Meridian Centre at 7pm as our Men’s hockey team take on the Guelph Gryphons (going back to colours – don’t mix that red with black and gold either!) The sports don’t stop there, there’s a full schedule of games on Saturday, listed on the Homecoming website. Come for the spirit of the game, come to show Badger pride and if nothing else, come for the beer and socializing as we cheer our Badgers on to victory.

If you still don’t believe me when I say that Brock University is the place to be this weekend, you’re going to have to show up and see for yourself.

You can head over here for the full schedule of events.

Happy Homecoming Badgers!
