STUDENT LIFE AND COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE:

1. BLAST off! First Year Experience Indoor Volleyball Night

On Friday, October 23rd, the First Year Experience Team is hosting an indoor volleyball night at Not So Sports Niagara. From 7:00 to 10:00pm, come out and enjoy a night of FREE fun, interactive and friendly competition from your fellow Badgers. Transportation provided by transit. Meet the team at the bus hub underneath the tower at 7:00pm to take the bus together. No volleyball experience required. Register on experiencebu.brocku.ca

Get involved in the St. Catharines and Thorold community by joining your peers and Student Life & Community Experience to collect canned goods. The non-perishable food items will be going towards Community Care and Brock University’s own food bank. Volunteer hours can be tracked on Experience Plus and Experience BU. 3. Walktober

Pick up a pedometer at the Walker Welcome Desk, and get moving! Post to Facebook or twitter every day how many steps and what you did to get active for a chance to win…..and to get healthy!

4. Body Image Workshop

Tuesday, Oct. 27, 6 – 8 pm Free for all Brock Students! Enjoy learning about topics such as nutrition, exercise periodization, injury prevention, physical activity and mental health, and more. Dr. Kim Gammage and her team are leaders in researching topics surrounding body image and perception, and physical activity. Learn how subtle factors in appearance can have a huge role in a person’s adherence to physical activity Register at http://brocku.ca/recreation-services to reserve your chair (no charge)

5. United Way Spinathon

Friday, Oct. 30 Get a team of 8 people together to take turns spinning for 8 hours. Raise money for the United Way, dress up for Halloween (if you want), register at the Welcome Desk Desk in Walker Complex.

6. First Aid courses

Lifesaving Society First Aid courses are offered nearly every weekend –register in person at the Welcome Desk in Walker Complex, on line or call 905-688-5550, x 4060.

7. Fall/Winter Intramurals

Registration begins on Nov. 6 for the next group of Intramurals – register individually, or as a team. Activities include Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Coed Basketball, Coed Indoor Soccer, Coed 4’s Volleyball (Tuesday mornings), Coed Indoor Ultimate Frisbee, Coed European Handball, Singles Squash, Coed Water Volleyball, EXTREME Coed Intramurals.
