Hey Badgers!

Student Powered has missed all of you over the last two weeks! If you don’t live under a rock you’ve probably noticed Brock has been buzzing ever since Brockchella kicked off on September 6th! With Homecoming last weekend, the craziness never stopped however, I must say IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE BACK!

Here’s my review for everything you missed or to give you a dose of nostalgia:

BROCKCHELLA:

If you got to attend any of the events, you already know how much fun we had. Once all of the first years moved into residence (much thanks to our volunteers/Isaac’s army) the events blew up! Tower party, Vendor fair, Big ticket, and Condom poker had some of the largest turnouts ever! The weather held up beautifully, and  A TON of free swag was given out! If you weren’t lucky enough to receive one of our high-demand shaker bottles don’t worry, I heard a rumor you will see them again this year. Also, there are still plenty of wall calendars and agendas sitting outside of the BUSU office for students to take.

The highlight of this week for myself, was probably welcoming all first years onto campus. Seeing everyone so excited helped our team keep the energy going. If you haven’t seen any photos yet (although how could you not) here are some of the best moments during O-week:

HOMECOMING:

Last weekend our badgers kicked off homecoming with the Steelblade tournament Friday night, facing off against Windsor and Guelph. Our badgers came out on top and won the tournament for the fifth time! Saturday came in with a bang, as the turf field opened, Lacrosse was the first team to proudly play on the new field. The women’s team also became the first team at Brock to win on the new Alumni field as they defeated Laurier. Men’s and women’s rugby followed with games against Laurier and UofT. Women’s rugby fell short to Laurier however, our Men’s team was able to come out on top and defeat UofT. Soccer also got fans hyped as they took on York University Saturday afternoon. Good times were also to be had at the beer tents, food trucks, and on Isaac’s patio. The weather held up for the most part and Isaac’s Army Hummer (not kidding) made its debut. Overall, it was a fun weekend and we can’t wait until next year!

On that note badgers, we have another big week ahead of us! Headphone disco takes place this Friday at Isaac’s for the first all ages event of the year, and Tinder Tales taking place in Isaac’s again on the 28th.

Hope to see everyone there!
