Well, it’s that time of the year again where everything turns a beautiful shade of green. I’m talking beer, mixed drinks, shamrock shakes from McDonalds, and just about everything under the sun with a little green food dye. Every year Isaac’s hosts a huge celebration of St. Patty’s day where the beer is green, everyone’s shirt is green, there’s just a whole lot of green going on. We’ve come up with a few tips for this St. Patty’s day that will help you stay safe and have a great time!
Use the Buddy System:
Plan ahead, make sure that you have a group of friends that you can trust and have your best interest at heart. Sometimes accidents happen and people have a little too much to drink. Having someone to look after you is always a great idea just in case!
Leave valuables at home:
The best way to keep your valuables safe is to leave them secured at home. Only bring what you need such as ID, house key, money and your phone, this reduces the chance valuables will get lost or stolen.
Eat and stay hydrated:
Make sure you eat well and stay hydrated throughout the day. Drinking on an empty stomach may end your plans earlier than anticipated. Before you start drinking eating food with protein and fat will help with alcohol. It is also important to alternate between drinks with water to ensure that you stay hydrated.
Stay by your drinks:
Even if you are not drinking alcohol, it is easy for someone to slip something in your drink unless you see it opened or prepared. Keep your drink with you at all times. If you can, bring your own drinks to a party you are attending to be safe.
Plan your transportation beforehand
If you are having someone being your designated driver, plan it ahead of it. Otherwise, have alternate transportation methods such as the city bus, taxi, uber, walk if you live close. Remember that other students will be also looking for Uber’s & Cab hires so prepare!
If your are DD, be extra cautious on the roads:
Just because you’re not drinking doesn’t mean that other people haven’t been drinking before driving. Use extra caution while driving home and if the snow keeps up take it slow!
Hope you have an amazing St. Patrick’s day and keep these tips in mind while you have an awesome time! If you are heading to Isaacs, get there early!
